Did they in all case retain the 3 v 1 flat way bed as sort of a nod to South Bend heritage?

The "TURNADO" was originally the model name of the 17" and 20" geared head lathes made in South Bend. When the new owner in '93 started buying machines from Taiwan, he used that name for those lathes.
The 14" was never made in Korea. SBL didn't do business with Korea until the early 80's. Only the 10K was made there complete. Many castings for the other machines came from there. They did get complete machines that were re-branded with the SBL name (DL series)
