A Records Management Specialist position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), California. The Records Management Specialist shall be responsible for evaluating and organizing digital and paper records, identifying long-term curation needs and requirements, standardizing data sets, uploading CRM and site monitoring reports to the Digital Archaeological Repository (tDAR), and building metadata records for tDAR to ensure effective and efficient long-term curation and management of VAFB Cultural Resource data.
For more career opportunities, and to learn more about CEMML’s contributions to land management, our mission, vision, and values, please visit http://www.cemml.colostate.edu/ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS· Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant experience. · Demonstrated experience with relational database technology (e.g. Microsoft Access or FoxPro), performing multi-table queries, concatenating fields in queries, and working with a multi-form user interface is required. · The successful candidate must demonstrate a broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices for data and records management, as gained through education and relevant job experience. · Knowledge of, or interest in, archaeological principles and methodology is required. · Adept at managing hardcopy and digital files following complex instructions and learning new technology quickly and efficiently. · Must possess skill in oral and written communication sufficient to receive and convey information, communicate effectively with diverse group of people, provide concise and thorough guidance, and receive and explain information in order to make recommendations regarding digital records management. · Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes. · Basic knowledge of ArcGIS (e.g. know how to use ArcCatalog, bring feature classes into ArcMap).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS· Highly qualified candidates will demonstrate skills and ability to comprehend archaeological resources, documentation produced as a result of an archaeological investigation or historic built environment inventory and/or evaluation, and technical knowledge related to the field of archaeology.· Demonstrated experience and ability to tackle an immense body of data and provide end-user database support primarily in the form of data retrieval (i.e. database querying) to assist management and scientific analysis.· Preferred candidates will know how to use various tools in ArcMap, such as buffering or intersecting feature classes, and joining and relating data tables to feature classes.· Experience working in highly structured organizations such as governmental agencies, the military, or corporations with clearly established lines of authority, procedures, and protocols is preferred.· Knowledge of Department of Defense policies and processes, and military culture in general, is desirable.· Experience performing tasks under tight deadlines and managing shifting priorities.· Experience with National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is beneficial.· Familiarity with California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) 523 forms for historic buildings and archeological sites is also beneficial.SALARY How to apply: Interested applicants apply online at https://jobs.colostate.edu/postings/80874 by November 23, 2020 for full consideration.
