Solano Archaeological Services (SAS) requires an archaeological technician/project archaeologist in northern California to conduct field surveys, document cultural resources and develop site records and GIS data, and collaborate with agency representatives and senior SAS staff.  This has the potential to be a periodic long-term part-time to full-time position but applicants must reside in Shasta County near the Burney/Fall River Mills area for rapid project responses as necessary. 

Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field.
• 3-5 years full-time field experience
• Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions and over rugged terrain. 
• Knowledge of the prehistoric and historic periods, including ability to recognize and identify regional artifacts and features.
• Ability to work individually under SAS supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure.
• Skilled in basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
• Knowledge of GIS basics and use of Trimble hand-held units
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle suitable for field conditions
