Applied Archaeology and History Associates, Inc. (AAHA) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of full-time Crew Chief in our Annapolis office working on a variety of field projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. AAHA is a woman-owned consulting firm established in 1998 to serve the cultural resource needs of clients in the Mid-Atlantic and the wider United States. As an AAHA Crew Chief, a candidate’s responsibilities will include:

• Lead and supervise field crews engaged in archaeological fieldwork in a safe and efficient manner;
• Provide complete and accurate accounts of field projects, including field notes, logs, and other relevant survey and/or site documentation, and ensure all documentation is collected, scanned, and uploaded in a timely manner;
• Ensure company policies are enforced and fieldwork is completed to standards and guidelines provided by relevant federal, state, or local authorities;
• Produce high-quality deliverables, consisting or graphics and/or narrative accounts of excavations, for inclusion in letter reports, technical reports, public presentations, and any other document mandated by clients or review agencies.

Qualifications

• A B.A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field;
• Completion of an accredited archaeological field school;
• Minimum of two (2) years experience conducting Phase I/II/III archaeological fieldwork, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic Region;
• Minimum of six (6) months experience supervising archaeological field investigations;
• Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of terrains and weather conditions and lift and carry objects weighing up to 40-50 lbs;
• Ability to work well with others and be a proactive part of a project team;
• Must be able to travel;

• Candidates with GIS experience are preferred.
