Geophysical Specialist/Archaeologist - Full Time/Permanent, Various Office Possibilities

Richard Grubb and Associates is seeking a Geophysical Specialist/Archaeologist to work within our geophysical program. Preference is for an individual based either out of our Wake Forest, North Carolina office or New Jersey headquarters. However, individuals based elsewhere in the Southeast or Middle Atlantic regions would be considered. This is an opportunity for a skilled professional to join a growing full-service cultural resource management firm.

 

Responsibilities include:

·                     Conducting geophysical investigations using remote sensing methods such as ground penetrating radar (GPR). Additional experience with magnetic gradiometry, electrical resistance, and conductivity/magnetic susceptibility surveys is desirable.  

·                     Management of all aspects of geophysical survey projects.

·                     Data analysis using current software.

·                     Organization of data for delivery to clients and agencies.

·                     Technical writing; including reports, work plans and proposals.

·                     Production and organization of graphics for survey reports.

·                     Preparation of technical and cost proposals and project schedules.

·                     Coordination with clients, including state and federal agencies.

·                     Directing and conducting archaeological projects, where necessary.

·                     Mapping cemeteries and assisting on grave relocation projects.

·                     Collaboration with RGA archaeologists, advising on active investigations via geophysical survey results and site interpretation.

·                     Maintenance and organization of geophysical survey equipment.

 

 Qualified applicants should possess:

·                     An MA/MS degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Geosciences or related field.

·                     Ability to conduct and manage archaeological geophysics survey projects.

·                     Experience with GPR, magnetometer and other remote sensing techniques.

·                     Experience with cemetery identification, delineation and mapping.  

·                     Experience with prehistoric and historic sites.

·                     Ability to post-process geophysical data using GPR Slice, RADAN 7, Geoplot 4, Surfer and interpret GPR Time-slices and Radargrams.

·                     Ability to operate GIS software (ArcMap 10.7) and mapping equipment, such as Garmin and Trimble GPS units and Total Station. 

·                     Ability to travel for projects, as necessary. 

·                     Ability to prepare technical and cost proposals.

·                     Strong writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.

·                     Willingness to perform archaeology projects, as necessary.

·                     Collegiality in working with architectural historians in a team setting.

·                     Experience with the archaeology of eastern North America.

·                     Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s standards for Archaeology. Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) designation preferred.

·                     At least one to three years of experience in fieldwork and post-processing.

This is a full-time position and compensation includes a complete benefits package. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
