Tierra Right of Way's western Washington cultural resources team is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our growing team as a Crew Chief. Tierra has been providing cultural resources services throughout the western United States since 1993 and in Washington since 2010. The ideal candidate for this position will have a willingness to expand their skill set and eventually grow into a role with greater responsibility, including research and technical report writing; monitoring; and leading field crews on survey, testing, and data recovery projects. The Crew Chief assists the Field Director in field operations and reporting of cultural resource management projects, including overseeing crew in conducting archaeological surveys and excavations. The Crew Chief directly supervises crew members.

The Crew Chief must be able to express and exchange ideas with others, adapt well in the face of workplace stressors, understand direction and adhere to established procedures, understand, remember and apply instructions and information, understand, remember and communicate routine information and complete routine to complex forms. The Crew Chief must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, carry a day pack weighing 20 pounds, climb in and out of trenches or excavation units using ramps and ladders on a frequent basis, hike in rough terrain and move self in different positions to accomplish tasks. Must be able to operate computer equipment and a motor vehicle.
Requires frequent overnight travel and extended stays. Some projects require camping in remote environments.
Requires work in remote areas and frequent exposure to outdoor elements, wildlife, rough terrain, and extreme temperatures.
