Field Logistics Technician - SEARCH Southwest


SEARCH is a leading nationwide and global provider of cultural resource services in the fields of Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Architectural History, History and Archives, and Museum Services.  We have immediate openings in the SEARCH Southwest Region for temporary Field Logistics Technicians to support ongoing archaeological data recovery and survey projects located in Southeastern New Mexico and Southwestern Texas.  The projects are scheduled to continue to March.  Full-time positions may be offered to temporary staff at the conclusion of the projects.

Qualified candidates should have the following:


  1. High school degree;
  2. One year experience maintaining, repairing, and/or procuring equipment and hardware;
  3. One year experience with 4WD vehicle operation and maintenance;
  4. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills;
  5. Ability to travel nationwide;
  6. Trailer towing experience and/or training;
  7. Excellent verbal communication skills;
  8. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.


The position requires that candidates be able to:

  • Follow COVID-19 guidelines that include adherence to 100% mask wearing, social distancing, and sanitization procedures;
  • Adhere to project health and safety plans and participate in office and field trainings and meetings;
  • Procure equipment and supplies from local and online vendors;
  • Maintain, organize, and transport equipment and supplies;
  • Support the supply, maintenance, and repair of a fleet over 40 4WD drive trucks and SUVs;
  • Tow cargo and utility trailers;
  • Drive safely off-road in austere environments;
  • Support in the mobilization and demobilization of multiple work sites;
  • Maintain field equipment, technology, supplies, and vehicles in a clean, working, tidy, and safe manner, and report any malfunctions, shortages, and risks project leadership;
  • Meet project deadlines and performance expectations for the completion of daily, weekly, and project objectives;
  • Complete company time accounting, administrative, logistic, research, and management tasks as requested;
  1. Travel for weeks at a time; and
  2. Other duties as assigned.


Additional consideration may be given to candidates that exhibit the following:

  • Commercial driver’s license;
  • Demonstrated experience with overlanding and/or expeditionary logistics;
  • Residency within a day’s drive of West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.


Chosen candidates will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check, including the DMV.
