The Archaeological Technician will perform field and lab work under the direction of a Project Archaeologist. Role is PT/Temporary.
Archaeological surveys including hand excavated shovel tests
GPS data collection
Cleaning, labeling and cataloguing of artifacts
Assist with document writing and production
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field from an accredited college or university
University-based archaeological field school
3-6 months' field and/or lab experience is preferred
Experience working in the Greater Houston Area and/or East Texas preferred
Must be able to work outdoors in varying terrains as well as a wide range of weather conditions on a consistent basis
Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged time periods
Dig using a variety of hand tools on a consistent basis
Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40-50 lbs. such as a field pack, bucket of soil, etc.
Must be able to travel
3-6 months' experience of field and/or lab work
