Jacobs Environmental Science and Planning group seeks a mid-level Archaeologist with experience in the US Pacific Northwest to be based in our Yakima, Washington office. This position involves providing cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services to government and private clients.
Duties will include archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring, as well as other tasks as assigned. Position includes serving as a senior crew chief or archaeological field director on field projects and a primary/co-author on reports. Position also requires analysis of archaeological materials, keeping of detailed field notes and archaeological site records, and research. Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, often traversing rugged terrain. Candidates will be expected to work on projects and clients in both the public and private sectors, including multiple projects at a time. The ability to write clearly and professionally is very important. Familiarity with the use of GPS units (Trimble) and tablets (Collector) is expected. The candidate needs to be detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and must be technologically proficient including experience with databases. Must demonstrate keen awareness for workplace safety in remote and urban conditions and within active transportation corridors; and be willing to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision.
