1 Crew Chief Needed-Seminole Tribe of Florida, Okeechobee area

The Seminole Tribe of Florida (STOF) Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) is hiring one Crew Chief for a 12 month period. Benefits (such as medical, dental, etc.) will be available for this position. No lodging or Per Diem will be provided. Work is expected to begin late September to early October.


The Crew Chief will be responsible for supervising 4-6 field technicians during the completion of Phase I shovel testing and metal detecting. The closest city to this reservation is Okeechobee, FL.

Fieldwork will occur for an eight month period. The final 3-4 months will consist of writing the final report. The Crew Chief will also be responsible for completing gis geodatabase and paperwork quality control.


Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or closely related field is required. A minimum of two (2) years of archeological experience, with prior experience in a supervisory capacity is required. Prior experience working with Geographic Information System (GIS) is preferred. The incumbent must possess an inquisitive mind, patience and enthusiasm as excavations can be physically demanding. The incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (or be able to obtain prior to work starting). Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
