We also are looking for someone with familiarity with regulatory procedures that presently govern cultural resource management work in Texas and more broadly in the U.S. CEI is a Baton Rouge-based company with a 50-year history of conducting scientifically informed investigations into coastal and near-coastal cultural adaptations. ABOUT THE POSITION The job primarily involves environmental compliance monitoring of natural gas pipeline construction projects crossing the Monongahela, George Washington, and Jefferson National Forests. The principal duties will be inspecting and monitoring construction activities to ensure resource protection measures are being implemented to protect sensitive resources (i.e., archeological, biological, and visual resources; waters; soils; unique geological features; etc.). An example of daily activities may include verifying sensitive archaeological sites flagged for avoidance or ensuring rare plant populations are properly flagged and avoided. Candidate must be able to work independently and make on-the-ground decisions during monitoring and other fieldwork. Field experience within the Great Basin, Mojave, and California deserts is preferred. Candidates must have their own transportation, a valid drivers license, and must be able to pass a drug test. Candidates must also be able to hike 10-12 miles per day in often difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions while carrying up to 25 lbs.
