Archaeological Technician:

Beaver Creek Archaeology is an established Cultural Resource Management firm headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota which is currently seeking to immediately fill multiple vacancies for an Archaeological Technician(s) for construction monitoring. This position is a temporary, full-time position anticipated to occur from date of hire through approximately one to three months. Pay range will be from $12.00- $16.00 per hour- depending on experience. The schedule will be 6 days a week for approximately 12 hours per day (lodging and per diem will be provided). Overtime will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given work week. Schedule may vary as dictated by project parameters or job tasks needed on other concurrent projects. Project location will be in Western North Dakota.

Technician Responsibilities:
Primary job task will be to monitor project(s) construction and ensure site avoidance.
Successful and positive collaboration with other staff and tribal representatives
Prepare and keep detailed notes, records, and photographs for report composition
Arriving each morning on time and prepared to work
Prepared to assist and be helpful to project supervisors
Actively participating and working each work day and following given instructions

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Positive Attitude and professional demeanor with the ability to work various staff member personalities and backgrounds
Adaptability to rapidly changing project needs and scheduling
Ability to work under supervision and within a team
Initiative, drive, and a desire to execute good work

Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field
Ability to walk long distances in extreme weather conditions through rugged terrain
Ability to work 100% in the field
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in the Great Plains Region
Previous experience with construction monitoring
Previous experience with Trimble GPS or similar hardware

Physical Requirements:
Regularly sit and/or drive for hours at a time
Walking/Surveying/Standing for hours at a time (approximately 10 miles per day/8-12 hours per day)
Utilizing vision to look for objects on the ground as well as the observation of objects at both long and short distances
Able to utilize hands to drive, hold GPS, camera, and other necessary field equipment and as needed to safely work with shovels, augers, trowels, screens 
Able to traverse across uneven and rough terrain under various weather conditions (including but not limited to: extreme heat, extreme cold, and rain)
Ability to bend-over, squat/stoop down to inspect items and as needed to work on any testing projects
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
