Archaeological Field Director / Field Supervisor

Matrix immediately seeks 2 Field Directors or Field Supervisors for the 2013 field season.  These positions will be based in Quesnel, British Columbia but may involve travel throughout BC, YT, AB and NWT.  These positions have the potential to become permanent for the right candidates.

Successful candidates will possess:

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, or Anthropology with a specialization in Archaeology;
• Experience supervising or preferably directing archaeological assessments in BC;
• A valid Driver’s license and experience driving off-road vehicles on resource roads;
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills;
• Excellent physical fitness and the ability to work in remote areas for up to 21 days in variable weather and terrain conditions;
• Ability to work legally in Canada.

Assets include:

• Field Director status in one or more areas with a preference for the Interior Plateau;
• Well-developed interim and final report writing skills;
• Experience with ATVs and snowmobiles.

Desired Certifications:

• Occupational First Aid Level 1 & Transportation Endorsement;
• Resource Road Driving Operator Course;
• ATV or Snowmobile Rider Course;

• Bear Aware;
• S100 Fire Suppression.
