About the opportunity

Do you thrive in the pursuit of ensuring excellence in archaeological research? SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their team and looking for a dynamic individual who is following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work. SWCA's Arlington, TX office offers a unique work environment and a diversified client-base, including generation / renewables, transportation, water infrastructure, oil and gas, and land development. Your role will be to assist the Project Managers and Principal Investigators in obtaining archaeological research data from the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (OAS), located at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, for a variety of projects taking place throughout the state. Hours for this position will be variable.

What you will accomplish

  • Prepare OAS archaeological research request forms prior to gathering research.
  • Schedule and conduct archaeological research within defined research buffers.
  • Transmit gathered data to Project Managers and Principal Investigators and conduct follow-up research as needed.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting research at the OAS at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma, Osage Nation, and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (Tulsa District) archaeological standards.

Additional Information:

  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record screening. 
  • Ability to travel the OAS in Norman, Oklahoma.
  • Ability to work variable schedules on an as-needed basis.
