Kautz Environmental Consultants, Inc., (KEC) of Reno, Nevada, is currently accepting applications for field technicians and BLM-permitted crew chiefs for upcoming excavation and survey projects. Compensation ranges from $20-27 an hour, depending on experience. Fieldwork will occur throughout Nevada (including Reno area projects). Transportation is provided from Reno to the project area; meal allowance and lodging will be provided on work days for non-local projects. Meal allowance is $55/day. Non-local projects are run on 8-on/6-off work schedules. Local projects will generally be scheduled 4-10s. Local projects are not eligible for meal allowance and lodging.
Preferred technician candidates will have a B.S. or B.A. in Anthropology or Archaeology, and at least one year of field experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Great Basin and California archaeology. Crew Chief applicants must be permittable through the Nevada BLM and demonstrate supervisory experience. Mine Safety Training will be provided (paid) if needed. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, bend, and kneel for long periods of time; lift at least 30 lbs.; and hike 10+ miles per day in rough terrain and weather conditions.
