BRIC is seeking an Archaeological Principal Investigator to manage and carryout field work and write reports for pedestrian survey and shovel testing for projects on the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation lands under the BIA for fire management. This will be a part-time, hourly role. Possible continued work after this project depending on projects and performance.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will perform archaeology duties to run/manage this contract in office and in field. This may include pedestrian surveying, recording, excavation.

 

Job Qualifications (Education/ Skills and Experience):

  • Physically able to hike multiple miles in steep terrain daily.
  • Able to hike in dense vegetation carrying 30lbs - 40 lbs. of gear per day.
  • Understands state recording forms for areas being utilized.
  • Task oriented and organized to manage various data sets and personnel.
  • Able to use GPS, mobile field devices.
  • Able to dig STP in various environments
  • Technical report writing experience a must!

 

Minimum Level of Education: Master’s Degree archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field

 

Certifications: 

Required: Must have MA or MS in archaeology/anthropology, must have 5 years of CRM based work. Must have 1 year of Texas project experience

Preferred: 10 years + experience with 3 years of Texas CRM experience

 

Must be able to pass a standard background check
