This position will be based in the mid-Atlantic region. The Cultural Resources Project Principal/Project Director will support the Navy and other clients. Your role will be to lead the technical component of archaeological projects to ensure scientific rigor and regulatory sufficiency as part of a larger project management team, or in managing your own projects, as assigned. You will also be expected to play a leadership role in the program including mentoring junior staff, encouraging teamwork and cooperation, and driving overall scientific and business excellence.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, analysis, and final report production to ensure compliance with BRIC’s high-quality standards for technical work, agency requirements and guidelines, and general standards of scientific quality. Additional project management duties as needed: manage budgets, prepare proposals, interact with clients, and manage staff. As needed, author large technical reports, research designs, treatment plans and other technical documents. Maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency contacts and clients following relevant work protocols.


Job Qualifications (Education/Skills & Experience)

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology required; PhD preferred
• Minimum of ten (10) years of supervisory and fieldwork experience required
• Must demonstrate completion, at a PI level, of a minimum of three or more substantial projects involving primarily archaeological investigations and preparation of final reports consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. Projects shall have been performed under the jurisdiction of the National Historic Preservation Act. "Substantial" projects include:
                   o Intensive-level survey of at least 1,000 acres resulting in recording and eligibility and management recommendations for up to 10 sites
                   o Archaeological data recovery or another sufficiently complex field effort to minimize or mitigate adverse effects to archaeological resources
• Emphasis in Mid-Atlantic cultural resources is required; a current technical specialization (e.g., lithic analysis, historical archaeology, GIS, architectural history, etc.) is preferred
• Experience with DOD projects is preferred; experience with Navy projects is desirable.
• Experience with NEPA and NHPA Section 106 required
• Past peer-reviewed publication record and conference presentation experience preferred
• A PI permit (or the ability to obtain one) in mid-Atlantic ability to be listed on various federal and state cultural resource permits in states is preferred
• Experience should include project scheduling software (MS Project and/or Primavera), work break down structure, and managing critical path. Experience and comfort in evaluating, utilizing and developing cutting edge technology methodology for office and field work. Have experience and comfort with MS Project and/or Primavera. Mastery of other office and field technology and an understanding of how to implement technology into project work-flows.
• Experience in business development is desirable
