Are you looking to explore the Archaeology one of the largest states in the continental U.S.? Do you enjoy diverse habitats, low valleys, mountain peaks? The Nevada Department of Transportation is looking to fill an Archaeologist position at the Cultural/Natural Resource Specialist II level.



The Archaeologist Position (Cultural/Natural Resource Specialist II) is located within the Environmental Services Division, Carson City. The incumbent will perform and supervise cultural resource field surveys throughout the State of Nevada and write comprehensive cultural resources research reports involving large and complex projects ensuring compliance with federal and state cultural resource guidelines and laws. The incumbent will meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology while working in a team setting with other Secretary of the Interior qualified professionals. The position applies a variety of professional and advanced technical knowledge, skills, methods, and practices in performing work for compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, Section 106 and other related federal regulations with historic preservation law. The incumbent will also conduct research and reference work, collect, arrange, and record cultural resources information, perform public outreach, make formal presentations, and prepare grant applications. The incumbent will perform consultation with a variety of State, Federal and Tribal parties also to include interested parties. Prior Transportation experience a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $47,188.80 to $69,739.20 per year
