Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. is in need of archaeological field technicians for deep testing and shovel testing in Montgomery County, Tennessee. Fieldwork is scheduled for 4/30-5/4/2019.

Federal prevailing wages apply: $17.66 an hour plus a Health and Welfare payment of $4.48 an hour. Overtime is not expected. Per diem is $51 day. A single occupancy hotel room will be provided as will transportation to and from the project area and hotel.
Type (Regular or Temporary):
Archaeological Field Technicians are responsible for properly conducting unit excavations and shovel testing and are required, at a minimum, to perform the following tasks in the field:
· Properly excavate 1 x 1 m units
· Excavate 50 x 50 cm shovel tests
· Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly
· Complete excavation and shovel test field forms accurately and concisely
Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school. Candidates must have experience identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources in the southern Midwest or Southeast. Candidates must also have a minimum of 6 months of field experience (e.g., survey, testing, data recovery). Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks (kneeling, stooping, carrying 50 lbs., etc.) in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.
