ARCHEOLOGICAL pROJECT mANAGER, cREW cHIEF, AND Field Archeologists NEEDED IN LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO
R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce several vacancies in our Las Cruces, New Mexico office.
Field Archeologists - Fieldwork will be primarily in New Mexico, but travel may be required. All applicants must have at minimum a B.A. or B.S. in Archeology or Anthropology. Satisfactory completion of an accredited field school is mandatory for all applicants. Prior experience in the Southwest U.S. is required; experience in New Mexico is preferred. These positions have the potential for advancement.
Assistant Project Manager/Crew Chief - Successful candidate must possess at minimum a B.A. or B.S. in Archeology or Anthropology and must have completed an accredited archeological field school. Candidates with an M.A. or M.S. are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of archeological field experience, substantial field supervisory experience, and excellent interpersonal skills. Superior field skills are essential; experience with GPS, and familiarity with both historic and prehistoric archeological sites and material culture are desirable. These positions are based in Las Cruces, New Mexico; however, travel for field projects should be anticipated.
Project Manager - M.A or M.S. in Anthropology/Archeology from an accredited university; two years of professional archeology experience as a supervisor; and with at least sixteen (16) months of experience as a field supervisor in the Southwest. Three (3) references are required and official University transcripts may be requested.
Hold or be able to be permitted by the BLM as a field supervisor in New Mexico. For consideration at the project manager level, the candidate must be able to be permitted as a project director and field supervisor by the BLM.
This position will include time in the field supervising crews and administrative duties such as logistics, planning, managing personnel, and other duties as assigned. Applicants should be in good physical condition and able to fulfill work related duties under variable conditions. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills; the ability and drive to maintain high professional standards; the ability to manage logistics for a wide variety of projects in different locations in New Mexico and the Southwest; and the skills to work closely and cooperatively with clients and permitting and review agencies. Candidates should demonstrate experience and proficiency in writing professional correspondence, site forms, and technical reports. Successful applicants should have significant experience with GPS units and data collection. Familiarity with both historic and prehistoric sites/artifacts common to the Southwest is required. Candidates who already hold current, valid BLM permits are encouraged to apply. A writing sample may be requested as part of the application process.
