EBI Consulting has an immediate opening for a full‐time, permanent Archaeologist in California (NorCal-Bay Area or SoCal- Greater LA). This position in the fast‐paced telecommunications industry requires candidates to be self‐motivated, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines. The Archaeologist will be responsible for completing file reviews/background research, conducting field surveys and fieldwork, authoring reports, and completing Federal Communications Commission Forms 620 and 621, as needed. In addition, the Archaeologist may be trained to complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and NEPA tasks. The Archaeologist will work remotely from a home-office; however, routine short-term travel will be required for fieldwork. Must meet and/or exceed the archaeological qualifications described in the Secretary of Interior’s Professional Guidelines (Federal Register 48:190:44738-44739) (United States Department of the Interior 1983). Ideal candidates would also meet the state Principal Investigator requirements and/or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the region. Candidates should have demonstrated capability to write technical reports at all levels of complexity.
Responsibilities:
Completing Class I Surveys—background research for proposed projects including map, aerial, and literature reviews
The Archaeologist will also be responsible for reviewing SHPO databases for known archaeological sites and surveys
Conducting Class III Surveys/Phase 1A & Phase 1B surveys—visiting the proposed Project Site and conducting a pedestrian survey and/or systematic subsurface testing
Recording archaeological sites, and completing relevant site forms and determinations of eligibility
Archaeological Monitoring of construction
Authoring technical reports, including Class III reports and desk based analyses
Completing Federal Communications Commission Forms 620 and 621 as needed
Required Competencies:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage electronic deliverables on various projects
Ability to work independently to meet the needs of the business
Desired Skills:
Secretary of the Interior Qualified
Register of Professional Archaeologists preferred
Ability to write technical reports
Familiarity with the Federal Communications Commission’s National Programmatic Agreement
Familiarity with FinancialForce
Trained to complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and NEPA tasks
Education/Certificates/Experience Required:
MA/MS in Archaeology or Anthropology
