GIS Professional- Bismarck, North Dakota

Beaver Creek Archaeology is an established Cultural Resource Management firm in Bismarck, North Dakota. We are currently seeking to fill a vacancy for a GIS Professional. After the successful completion of a probationary period, this position would then become full-time with benefits. Remuneration would be dependent on level of education and relevant working experience.

All interested applicants must meet the minimum requirements and physical requirements detailed below:

Minimum Qualifications:

·         At minimum, must hold a certificate in GIS from an accredited university

·         Solid background working with ESRI ArcView- ArcGIS, Adobe, Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel)

·         Experience with Trimble GPS or similar hardware

·         Data Entry, Vector data manipulation, Georeferencing and knowledge of Geoprocessing tools (union, buffer, …), Database experience, and Cartography skills

·         Strong desire to work hard and produce a superior product

·         Valid driver license

·         Pass a Pre-Employment and at Random Non-DOT Drug tests


Preferred Qualifications:

·         Archaeology background and/or interest

·         Oil and Gas Experience

·         Knowledge and/or experience with Public Land Survey System (PLSS)

·         Experience working with and interpreting engineering plat maps

·         Bachelor and/or Master Degree in GIS or a closely related field

·         Ability to create and ground-truth 3D Viewshed Analysis projects

·         Direct data management and reporting for simultaneous projects under strict deadlines

·         Work closely with all staff regarding project work, scheduling, and data exchange

·         Use professional judgement and experience to synthesize data, maps, and problem solve


Physical Requirements:

·         Should be to remain seated or standing at a desk, working on a computer, for hours at a time with repetitive hand motions

·         Should be able to look at a computer monitor for hours at a time

·         Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak in the English language

·         Must be able to think critically with attention for detail for hours at a time

·         May occasionally need to be able to safely lift up to 50lbs from the floor to waist using both arms and hands

·         May occasionally need to go into the field in order conduct ground truthing (weather conditions may be extreme (field and weather appropriate clothing would be necessary). Would also need to be able to traverse uneven surfaces and potentially rough terrain).
