First post too;

I have some rolling stock converted to Sergents – and a lot of other rolling stock I’m vacillating about.   Pre-assembled made the conversion a lot easier for me.

Hi-

After using sergent couplers at a friends house, I was sold!   I just got my first package in the mail and I will be converting all my HOn3 rolling stock over to them.  I am also glad to see that this group is moving here.

Thanks again

Good Morning

Paul Paoli

Hello, my name is Paul and I’m planning on building a switching layout (17 x 17’) based on the Southern Pacific. I’m really looking forward to switching all of my Rolling Stock to Sergent Engineering couplers.

Here I am

This is my introductory post as requested.
I've not yet taken the plunge to convert to Sergent, but I'm still very impressed with the prototype accuracy.
So, I'd like to keep informed.

HOn3 Couplers

Mark Lewis

First, thanks for moving this group to this new format. Glad to be proactive.
Yesterday I finished building 3 pair of RNC87K narrow shank HOn3 couplers...my first Sergents.
These are to be installed on Rail Line box/stock cars.
Instead of using Frank's recommended Rustoleum primer, I used Tamiya #TS-1, Red Brown, in a spray can. I liked the more subdued color
...more realistic.
Looking forward to converting all my Blackstone rolling stock to Sergents.

Good morning, I switched to Sergent couplers years ago and love them. The realistic size and the operation are awesome. Thanks for having this group. Paul B.

My intro

Mark Stamm

As requested, let me introduce myself... I’ve been a modeler since I was old enough to have a hobby knife. There where many starts and stops that got in the way, but today I enjoy myself as I can. I have for the most part been an observer of the this group, but I have acquired multiple pairs of the Sergent couplers to test. Once the final plan for the railroad comes together the final decision will be made, as of today I have lots of cars with no coupler applied.

I look forward to reading the discussions as they unfold.

Mark

Good to know!  But this group isn't about metaphysical philosophy, it's about physical couplers ... 8^)

New Kadee/Sergent compatible coupler boxes now in production

Jim King <jimking3@...>

Two weeks ago, I announced a new coupler box/lid combo suitable for Kadee “whisker” and Sergent “compatible shank” couplers (with optional self-centering feature).  Those parts are now in production and ready for your fleet.

Go here to read info on these boxes and the recently-released “Accurail narrow box” replacements:

Normally a transfer would be best, but the transfers have been temporarily suspended due to issues with Yahoo ... it's apparently been acting squirrely.  So it's better to get people signed up now, just in case Yahoo craters before it cna be transferred.

John,

FWIW, it would probably be better to just transfer the group.  The transfer establishes everyone’s Groups.io account as well as membership in the group, and copies their subscription settings (Individual, NoEmail, etc.) as well. Their account will initially have no password, unless they are already a Groups.io member.  Each individual will begin receiving messages and can post or reply by email immediately upon transfer regardless of membership.

If they wish to visit the group’s website for photos, files, etc., they will need to create a password to be full members.  That is a very easy process the first time they try to logon.

And, unlike Yahoo and the other big services, they won’t have to give up an appendage and their first born.

Memberships are transferred first, followed by files, photos, and so on.  When finished Groups.io will send a message to each individual letting them know they are member of the new group along with appropriate links.  Once that is done, I would suggest switching everyone’s membership on this group to Moderate and perhaps post a message saying we’ve moved and pointing them to the new group home.  Hope this helps!

Best regards,
