Re: Coupler order

Hi Frank,

Thank you. Do you know when you will have your bulk packs back in stock?

And do you still make S scale couplers?

Best regards,

Peter

Website says (expected back March 2019). Does it say something different for you?

Just double-checking. I can see the HO date, but nothing about S.

EC87K & EC87KB AVAILABILITY?

Bill Keene

Hello Frank,

I went to the Sergent Engineering web site this morning to order some couplers. As I knew that the EC87KB were out of stock I was going to order a couple of EC87K packages to complete the projects on the workbench.

Unfortunately, I find that the EC87K couplers are now also noted as "Out of Stock".

Do you have an estimate of the date when both the EC87K and EC87KB couplers will be available? Perhaps a time frame of early March or late March? I do not want to miss out on obtaining a good stock for my ongoing and future projects.

Cheers,
Bill Keene

Hi Bill,

I should have 20000 new sets of EC87K/EC87KB castings in two weeks if all goes as planned. ENC87KB will be back in stock at that point as well.

Just out of curiosity, how do the bulk packs get metered out to get 144 of each piece?

Frank,

Thank you for the update.

I guess it is just a wait until the web site shows availability to place an order for a couple of bags of EC87KBs. Might even try the ENC87Ks. I have a couple of scratch build cars that these will work well and look good installed on.

Hi Nathan,

Everything in the bulk packs is done by weight. I actually target 150 of each casting (more if I’m having issues with defective castings) and 150 balls and springs. Sometimes there are a few more, sometimes a few less but very rarely under 144.

couplers

Lyle Brunson

I have no experience with these, but think the lack of centering springs may permit tighter radius for Forney type locomotives.

Long shank couplers

Todd Fisher

I know it's a long shot but does anyone happen to have any extra long shank lower shelfs that they don't need. I've got still yet another box of long cushion cars that need them and I also need more double shelfs.

Frank,

Any update on when any H series couplers will be available?

Thanks in advance

Worldwide shipping policy

Reynante Bulaon

Hi,

As far as I know, there are only 2 Sergent coupler users here in Philippines, and we managed to get a hold of a pack of FC87K and EC87KB which we split in half. At the time I though that was enough for I have only about 50 rolling stocks including my locos, but it has since been increasing with some more used freight cars being acquired cheap locally(from deceased collectors) from garage sales.

So now my stock of sergents are running out, and our friend that helped us before in buying our sergents is no longer able to buy overseas, added to the dilemma the ban on shipping the couplers here as per the sergent engineering website.

I would be having some funds for another EC87KB in the following momths and that would be enough to cover my needs but I would need help from someone to buy for me and would be willing to ship here.

Reynante,
This is another way of buying from overseas especially with the ridiculous shipping charges that USPS tries to charge overseas customers, if you click on the link and set up an account as part of that set-up they give you a couple of dummy US mailing addresses, the freight charge you pay is only the local domestic charge, and have it sent to one of those dummy addresses when it arrives at “Shipito” they will advise you by email and then you pay an additional fee for them to send the parcel onto you, it works out a lot cheaper then USPS charges.

I would imagine this is also safer from a standpoint of preventing mail theft. This go-between shipper wants to stay in business after all. A lot of overseas mail parcels destined to poorer countries from the US get stolen. Its from the US, so the contents just have to be very valuable RIGHT???! Years ago I had a USPS postal worker tell me at the counter to not put a USA return address on  mail destined for Mexico and Central American Countries, so it wouldn't get opened and pilfered WHILE IN THE HANDS OF FOREIGN MAIL SERVICES! He was adamant on this point to anyone shipping south of our border. And he was was Hispanic himself!
