The information in this book about John Stewart, a SPOW from Dunbar is worth reading. He apparently did not leave any descendants but his story is interesting. He had fought in FIVE battles under Montrose in Scotland (and England?). He was sent to MA and at first was a servant in Gifford's household UNTIL it was recognized that he was a blacksmith which was much needed in Springfield, MA. He went there and served the town as their smith and in 1658 he was given the smith shop by the town. Check out this free book on Google. SEARCH "John Stewart"
