I wrote a book about the Scots POW's from the Battle of Dunbar

Dear Jan Highman

Thank you for coming to my rescue regarding SPOWS Facebook messages. Sue Raymond wrote to advice how to come out of  groups.io so that I remain an FB member and should receive notifications as before…and add new events for your groups interest which we are planning for a summer, maybe late summer depending on how challenging life is made for the reasons I need not tell you about,

With very best wishes, jr-l

Jean,

If you press that unsubscribe link, it will take you all the way off the list. If you want you can sign up again with a different email.  That way you will still get messages from the group.

I have received an email from Trevor Gibbs about a free copy of his novel ‘Relics of a Saint’.

I am happy to receive SPOWS Facebook entries here in East Anglia, yet I am working hard on community and writing projects of my own.

I feel it best not to have my email address included/copied in to personal or general group emails. Though I would wish to inform The Group about future activities celebrating the work of the Scottish soldiers as prisoners-of-war, on The New Bedford River which they constructed during 1651-53…a river drain which prevent this area of possibly devastating floods.

I wish still to know of activities and receive SPOWS Facebook entries and appreciate very much being able to see information, happenings and events posted by SPOWS.

Please let me know the best, most effective way of following SPOWS Group on Facebook, but not to be in receipt of exchange emails on topics of general interest. I would not wish to unsubscribe. How may this be sorted, if at all? I do not wish to receive any communication by email to this email address, it is rather a more personal use of my email system. I am, however, in touch by email to named members of SPOWS regarding future events here in the fens on The Word Garden Facebook page which I am presently updating.

I am wondering how my personal email address has been used on this occasion. Perhaps it is on some earlier personal contact??

Thanks Trevor. I have heard that the Barbados SPOW might have been officers and rather than going to Durham Cathedral were held (maybe in a castle) on the East Coast - thinking it was Tynemouth.
But as I understand it, we just don't have records to confirm.

Best wishes,

Jean, You would have had to sign up to this group to receive emails from it.  I have no idea how to unsubscribe, so I am going to contact Teresa who started it for advice.  Sue Raymond

Hi Nanette
Relics of a Saint: A Barbados Mystery is the story of a Scots POW from the battle of Dunbar in 1650 being sent to the island of Barbados as an indentured servant after being imprisoned in  Durham Cathedral by CRomwell.
I am not descended from the POWS but from the Scottish Covenanters also shipped out to the Caribbean.
