Mel and I visited the parking lot at Safari Park yesterday afternoon to see the Zone-tail “show”. Three were seen together in the air at about 4, and a fourth bird was perched in a eucalyptus tree.
We started at 3:15 on row 10 of the parking lot, but the vultures and hawks came in from the north and never reached row 10. We moved to row 3, which is near the actual entrance, and had great views. I know in the past people have sometimes viewed the hawks from the road outside the park to avoid the parking fee ($15 per car), but yesterday you would have not seen the birds.
