Turkey Day miscellanea

On Thanksgiving Day, a visit to North Clairemont Park/Rec Center produced a flock of 4 Bullock's Orioles (3 imm. males, 1 female) and a W. Tanager, nut I missed the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Summer Tanager. Farther north, in UTC, the Painted Redstart was easy to find, and in addition to calling it was actually in full song quite a bit. In a private residential area off Governor Drive there was a dark-lored adult White-crowned Sparrow (very rare in the county). And at the Hickman Field ball fields in northern Clairemont Mesa, an adult male Vermilion Flycatcher continues. At Mission Trails Regional Park, the Vesper Sparrow reported recently by Dan J. continues today, along the edge of the grasslands, left of the kiosk, past Gate 9 (fide B. Carlson).
