Swarming black-venteds, La Jolla
The massive swarm of shearwaters and other birds that has been feeding on bait balls off Torrey Pines for the last 10 or so days continued today. Large streams of shearwaters coming up from the south every morning and heading north. It’s just, on its own, a stunning sight, especially in the morning light. Sometimes the birds are inshore; a lot of the time they’re a mile+ offshore.
Good chance to see Manx shearwater as the birds circle back to the south. Or to practice not seeing one.
