San Diego River Estuary

Today (11/1/13) I did a scouting trip for a walk I’m leading on Monday at the San Diego River Estuary.  Of the 55 species seen there were 11 species of ducks, American White Pelican, Common Loon and a fairly nice assortment of shorebirds for high tide.  I have been leading walks here for 11 years, so it’s rare I see a bird I haven’t seen here before, but I had a ROCK WREN among the riprap by the Life Guard Headquarters at Hospitality Point.  There are several feral cats in this area, so hopefully it will stick around.
