La Jolla - 23 Nov 2013

A sea-watch from Point La Jolla in La Jolla between 6:15 AM and 8:45 AM today (23 Nov 2013) proved somewhat uneventful. Along with the constant stream of Black-vented Shearwaters moving south, and large numbers of Bonaparte’s Gulls milling around some distance from shore, there were very few Surf Scoters, Red-throated Loons and Pacific Loons seen flying south, a single Parasitic Jaeger harassing a Royal Tern, and about half-a-dozen Cassin’s Auklets. Noteworthy were two White-winged Scoters spotted by Dean DiTommaso as they flew south, and an adult Mew Gull, also spotted by Dean DiTommaso, seen flying towards La Jolla Shores.
