Just a heads up to watch around South San Diego Bay such as at the bikepath along the Otay River, J St Marina/Telegraph Cyn Cr flats, Emory Cove, or Tijuana Estuary for Franklin's gull.  A breeding plumage adult was observed this morning around 10:30-10:45 in closed portions of South SD Bay NWR saltworks (pond 14), but was not re-found when searched for at noon.  Originally observed on the water foraging for brine flies, distinctive with full black head with wide white arcs above & below each eye, red bill, pink blush to white of neck & breast, then in flight had obvious white margin along trailing edge of upper wing widening near tip to broad white patch between gray of upper wing and black tips of primaries.  Was solo when seen, not associating with other gulls at that time.
