Bald Eagle Breeding in San Diego County

Marsha Ingersoll

Bald Eagles have bred uncommonly in San Diego County. A pair successfully fledged young several years ago at Lake Henshaw, and an immature bird was seen at Rangeland Road near Ramona this summer near an active nest. There may be other active nest in recent years that my brief review did not find.

This summer a pair of Bald Eagles successfully fledged a chick on private property at the small pond at Corta Medera Ranch south of Pine Valley.

I did not personally observe the birds but have received diagnostic photo documentation taken 5/11/13 from the caretaker of the ranch .
