Although we have seen many flocks of robins in the past few
months, today we also had a mixed flock of robins and waxwings at
our yard in Point Loma (first time I've noticed them together).

I have at least a dozen American robins and twice as many cedar waxwings (a conservative count) feasting on pepper tree fruit in my back yard now, and for at least the past 45 minutes or so. I'm not sure who is more excited based on the commotion—them, me, or my 'regulars' who seem to be as interested in the visitors as I am!

I have also been seeing Am Robins in my yard in Encinitas, some days just a few individuals, other days maybe 50 or more. The large groups usually include a small flock of Cedar Waxwings. Both species feed on Brazilian Pepper Tree berries. Today a single Am Robin was with a pair of Western Bluebirds feeding on small black berries of Pygmy Palms.
Also, yesterday at a North Park neighborhood in San Diego, I saw Am Robins and Cedar Waxwings feeding on Hollywood Juniper Tree berries as well as Brazilian Pepper Tree berries.

I hesitated to post this but Lisa has inspired me. I live northwest of 69th St.. and Imperial Ave. in Encanto. Since January 21 I have have had 5+ robins hanging around my and some neighbors yards. This began also with feeding in my old pepper tree as well as perching in the Chinese elm. They are often drinking at the bird bath which I fenced off so my little dog doesn't chase them.
I am also thrilled to have these winter visitors for the first time ever in 38 years after commonly seeing them in summers growing up in the Midwest. Until this year I saw them in winter at El Monte and Flinn Springs County parks.
