Dear Lisa, Sonja and SanDiegoRegion birders: My bet is that this is the same leucistic Red-tailed Hawk seen last January (my 1-17-13 report to SDBirds) in the same general area. The description

Santee Lakes
Two winter residents have returned to Santee Lakes. I saw my first Belted Kingfisher and a Spotted Sandpiper on my walk this afternoon. Both were on the crosswalk between Lakes 2 and 3.

After Greenwood today I had a Ross's Goose on the J St. mudflats on SD Bay. Visibility on the water was poor so only gave the scoters a quick scan. A Short-eared Owl continued in the saltworks

This afternoon I poked around Ramona a bit. Best birds of the day were two burrowing owls.
The owls were in the Black Canyon Rd area, but I won’t give further details about location to avoid any

La Jolla Cove in the wind, Nov 15
At the Cove from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Strong winds from the south, 15-25 mph
Mediocre light.
Highlight was a seemingly all-black alcid leading a flock of surf scoters, obviously smaller than the scoters,
