Continuing Palm Warbler; upper Cottonwood C. Park 22APR17
Tito Gonzalez
The PALM WARBLER reported yesterday by Kathy and Gretchen in upper Cottonwood Creek continued this morning 22APR17. I spoke to several birders who had brief looks. Presumably, this is continuing bird that was originally reported by Jeff Clingan on 18APR17 in the lower part of the park west of 101. The bird was not very accommodating and was moving around quite a bit. A picture is included in ebird report.

I neglected to mention that Matthew Binns reported a PALM WARBLER on 28MAR17 observed in the lower Cottonwood Creek. So perhaps this bird has been around since this first report.

Ramona Grasslands and Safari Park
Birded along the Ramona grasslands on our way to Safari Park this morning. Nicest find were two Bald Eagles by the lake. Lots of Meadowlark and flocks of blackbirds (both Red-shouldered and Tri-colored), little else. The African section at Safari Park has had a lot of shrubbery removed. There were not as many trees being nested in as I have seen in the past. Still, a few had Snowy Egrets roosting, as well as Cattle Egret and White-faced Ibis. Saw one lone Costa's Hummingbird in the Cactus Garden. Few photos at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/122472313@N07/ Waggin' tails, Catherine Author of "Attitude + Attention =Teamwork! Mission Trails Regional Park: Sunday AM
Arrived at sunrise and found the grasslands and dam area very birdy. Highlights were: Blue Grosbeak Grasshopper Sparrow Lazuli Bunting A Greater Road-runner that was so close when I turned from photographing a Yellow-breasted Chat, that it startled me and my gasp sent it off. All the same, it hopped back up on the fence and posed. I had to keep backing up to ultimately get a full photo of it. Quite fun! Ash-throated Flycatcher Costa's Hummingbird Black-chinned Hummingbird Bell's Vireo Photos at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/122472313@N07/ Sadly, except for the two hours at MTRP this morning, am engaged the rest of today and simply can't get to Robb Field to see the Wagtail. Should anyone see it tomorrow, will you please post. Thanks. Waggin' tails, Catherine Author of "Attitude + Attention =Teamwork! San Diego River – White Wagtail photos, 23 April 2017
Gary Nunn
I posted some of the closer photographs that I obtained today of the WHITE WAGTAIL at the San Diego River flood control channel at Robb Field, Ocean Beach. The wagtail was first found and identified by JoAnn Hackos, we believe a visiting birder from Colorado, and reported very quickly into eBird. Thanks JoAnn!! I happened to be getting into my car at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery to head down to the river right when the eBird alert pinged my phone.-- Gary Nunn Pacific Beach

No wagtail 9:30 to 11:30, 24 April
Geoffrey L. Rogers
Around a dozen or so birders looked for the White Wagtail on the tidal mudflats of the San Diego River from 9:30 to 11:30 without success. It was last seen here by other observers around 8:30.

Wagtail new location 24 April
Geoffrey L. Rogers
The White Wagtail continued in the general location described by Ryan Andrews to SanDiegoRegionBirding (Out on the mudflats on the SeaWorld side, just east of Mission Bay Dr. Bridge. Very active. This is not the original location it was found, but at the end of Old SeaWorld Dr.) up until about 4:45 when we lost it. It may be behind the patches of cordgrass here or may have flown back to the original location north of Robb Athletic Field.
