As the morning progresses the storm patrols moved much for the rough sure further offshore. There are still about 100 scattered around just beyond the kelp bed but the vast majority of them have moved to the north to the edge of La Jolla Canyon. From my bench scope towards the Carlsbad power plant and look for the edge between the calm and rough water.
Other notable birds today include seven brown boobies including an adult male and a late winter-plumaged or juvenile Bonapartes gull.
