Crown Point McCown's Longspur and 2 Palm Warblers

Lisa Ruby

Hi,

The McCown's Longspur continued today at Crown Point Park. I saw it around 11:20 a.m., again around noon, and the last time just before 1:00p.m. It was always with a good sized group of 20 to 30 Horned Larks and sometimes some American Pipits, in the larger grassy area south of the little hill, and west of the sidewalk/bike path. When the birds flushed, the Pipits flew around and then came back down on Crown Point. The Larks and Longspur left, and then returned 20 to 30 minutes later.

Turns out there are two Palm Warblers at the park. Adam and I saw and photographed both of them at the same time. At that time they were on the ground by a group of trees that have a few large rocks at their base, along the north edge of the same grassy area where the Longspur was. They moved around quite a bit near that grassy area, sometimes seen in trees and sometimes on the ground near trees.
