Red-necked Grebe: Los Penasquitos Lagoon Continues 10May2016

Following up on yesterday’s report from Steve Perry, I observed and photographed the RED-NECKED GREBE today (10May2016) at 7:15 pm.  It was located about 500-600 m south of the Lagoon Mouth and could be observed from the 101 (not the SB parking lot as in the original report).  According to eBird and SD Atlas this species is most likely to be seen in winter, so May is an unusual time to be seeing this species in San Diego. Due to the cloudy and dim end of the day light, the photos are a bit noisy but still very useful. Photos are in the following ebird report.
