rails and (bit)terns

On a heads-up from Jim Morris, I went rail hunting this morning on the west side of Lake Murray. At around 8:35 - 8:40 a.m. an imm. Sora was poking around in the water next to the reeds on the right-hand (southwest) side of the second (the largest) "beach" area that you encounter going north on the bike path from the softball fields. He/she fed for several minutes and then wandered back into the reeds. No evidence of the Va. Rail that Jim also encountered. As a consolation prize, though, a Least Bittern called from 50 feet or so further down the reeds to the southwest. Also, a Caspian Tern was circling over the lake.
