Another purple finch

Steve Brad's posting of a purple finch reminded me that there was also one at Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary in Lakeside this morning around 10 a.m., mixed in with the usual large mob of free-loading House Finches.  The one at SWS was a female, easily distinguished from nearby female HOFIs by the white eye stripe and slightly different bill shape.    Every time she would try to get to a seed feeder for a snack, the male HOFIs would drive her off.   Not very gentlemanly, especially on the day before Christmas.  Male HOFIs go on the "naughty" list.  Hope they like coal.
