Kitchen Creek: We also heard distant Black-chinned Sparrow's singing and Mountain Quail's calling on the Pacific Crest Trail about a 1/4 mile west of Kitchen Creek Road. Map: http://goo.gl/maps/Znpgg

Trent Stanley & I birded Jacumba on Friday ( from my patio) and Saturday.

Friday afternoon we had too many  hooded and Bullock's orioles to keep track of as well as one male black-headed grosbeak and oak titmouse.  At about 7:00 - at the last bit  of twilight - Trent spotted a hawk flying low and directly above.  Once we got our bins on it in the crappy light It proved to be a Swainson's.  It appeared to be coming into land and roost for the night.

Saturday morning at 9:00 the TVs began to kettle and predictably the Swainson's joined them.  Some decent pics posted:

Also posted are two pics of the odd black-chinned hummingbird from last week.

At the swamp we found FOS Nashville Warbler, three Wilson's warbler, pac slope fly and the resident great-horned owl.
A female vermilion fly was seen at the usual spot across from the Ag fields.
In town we noticed a warbling vireo.

Later we hit Kitchen Creek but found no gray vireos.  At yellow rose spring there was a Nashville warbler.
