Have an 8 element yagi on 90 ft boom. Boom is 4 in dia. Largest Yagi in North America. Was designed and installed 15 years ago and is now on the ground for pick up in Griffin, Ga. This antenna is a MONSTER...will fit on Rohn 55 or larger tower. Only a Prop Pitch motor will turn this big Boy antenna. NOT for the faint of heart! This is one serious large antenna. Pick it up at my qth in Griffin, Ga for only $2500. Opens and closes the band!! Rick NQ4I cell 678-595-623

Subject: Real! Radio Job in San Angelo, Tx with TxDOT

Greetings to All !!!

The Texas Dept of Transportation (TxDOT, who I work for) has an opening
at the San Angelo TxDOT Headquarters for a Radio Coordinator (radio
tech).

TxDOT is looking for a “Real Radio Person” to fill the Radio
Coordinators position in San Angelo, TX. The current person is retiring
Aug 31, 2019.

This is not NOT!!! an IT job…this is real, no kidding RF radio work
job.

I like to say we do “Professional Ham Radio”.

TxDOT uses mostly VHF, P25 and analog communications, Motorola radios
and a real! HF network.

However, we are getting more and more into 700/800MHz trunking, Sat
comms, command platforms and event response.

Pay will depend on number of years of experience and work experience in
radio (mainly public safety or military related, but ham radio does
count).

See the job posting for job qualifications.

Here is the URL for the job:

https://careers.txdot.gov/psc/pshcma1/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_APP_SCHJOB.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_JBPST&FOCUS=Applicant&SiteId=1&JobOpeningId=114692&PostingSeq=1&languageCd=ENG&

Desired additional qualifications are:
Amateur Radio License, prefer General class, but tech will work if
upgraded to general quickly.
GROL or some kind of industry certification such as ETAI CET, Naber,
APCO etc.
COML, COMT, AUXCOM classes
Programming experience with Motorola equipment such as X-series, Quantar
repeaters, APX series radios.

If you have contacts in any other areas, places or email lists, please
distribute.

Interested persons need to apply via the TxDOT website ASAP as I am told
they will start interviewing in the next couple of weeks.

BTW, yes, the lucky winner will be working very closely with me.

I can answer some questions by phone.

New post on Sanantoniohams.org, crank-up tower & Cushcraft R-7000 HF antenna for sale

Lee Besing

Full details here...
http://sanantoniohams.org/blog/?p=8559

I just posted this listing on behalf of Daniel KC5QIG. It belonged to his dad, Doug Gollihar NA5YO, who used to be an active mbr of the AARO ham club many years ago.

He's going to find out if his dad added the optional 80 meter kit or not. If not, it covers 10m-40m.  I'm guessing a lot of maintenance will be needed to restore everything to optimal condition due to the age. Doug & Lucy moved to Palacio TX quite awhile back. I knew them back in the 90's with AARO.

Looking for Jason Ogilsby  (not positive about the spelling) - local guy who does tower work who used to work for Rock Solid Internet. Robert Skinner no longer does due to issues with his feet. FIgured whether I use Jason or not it would be good to know someone local who could do tower work sometimes for anyone needing it.

Anyone with a lead on Jason please forward to me. Thanks.

I currently have two FOSTEX professional studio monitors and only need one now. UI heard them used in a commercial radio station as their monitors and they are the best speakers I've heard in 40 plus years.  AC powered. VERY heavy lifetime speaker in black that will go with most any station (Ive used mine with Yaesus, TenTecs, etc.).About $175-200 new. $120 plus shipping or local pickup near San Antonio.

I have a used heavy duty push up pole galvanised with guy rings that was donated to me for redistribution by a WWII vet in HCARC.  This sounds like a good home for it.

All, Good day.  I received a request for assistance from Bill Stegemueller, K5KB with the Medina Radio Club in Medina, TX.
A member of the club - Norman Rigsby, K5LYO, who happens to be a D Day Survivor needs assistance with a new push up pole to get back on the air.  The club attempted to fix his old pole but it did not withstand the winds.  So a request is going out for assistance in locating at least a 30 foot high pole (either donated or for sale) to help Norman get back on the air.
Please contact me if you know of the availability of such a pole.
Thank you.
Respectfully,

Changes to this years Texas QSO Party #Contest

Marty Meyers

Dear Club Members,

There have been several changes to this year's Texas QSO Party. Please take note of the following:

TQP is changing in 2019:

1. New sponsor – Texas DX Society
2. New Date – Second weekend in September
3. New Awards – Low-Power and High-Power Classes for Four Categories
4. Revised Rules

New Sponsor

Texas DX Society has taken sponsorship of TQP. Current sponsor Northwest Amateur Radio Society (NARS) has been the sponsor since taking the role from TDXS back in 2001.

New Date

TQP moves from the last full weekend in September to the second weekend in September. This change is in response to many suggestions from participants over the Years.

New Awards
Low-Power and high-power classes are being added to the following four Texas
Fixed Station categories replacing the current single power categories:
1. Single Operator
2. Multi-Operator
3. CW Only Operator
4. Phone Only Operator

Revised Rules

Various changes have been made to the rules over for the past 18 years, mainly to cover changes in procedures and contact information. The rules for 2018 have been revised to modernize procedures and reflect the new date and categories effective for 2019.

See the TQP web site (http://www.txqp.net/) for details.
