There is an opening for a Web Manager at Channel 9. They are looking for an

Title: Web Manager

Reports to: Senior Director of Marketing

Basic Responsibilities:

Summary of the basic responsibilities or goals of the job, including
its scope or limitations.

Responsible for the conception, planning, development and design of
online and new/interactive media projects and initiatives.
Responsible for overall management of all Web site content, design, and
functionality, including parts related to fundraising and promotion.
Manage online video for use on all platforms, both internal and

content on external sites, such as and other public media
properties, as well as relevant social media applications.
Keep abreast of new technologies and applications and how they might be
applied to increase online engagement and online revenue.
Foster a culture of new media innovation across other departments to
ensure that interactive considerations are part of new project planning
and discussions.
Work with all departments to coordinate online content.
Manage budget for Web activities.
Consult with relevant parties at PBS and other public media and
non-profit organizations on trends in public media and the development
of resources, tools and platforms for PBS member stations.
Coordinate Web hosting and other server requirements with Information
Technology Manager.
Increase traffic and interactions with Nine Network web properties.
Specific Duties:

Listing of the specific duties or performances necessary to carry out
the above-mentioned responsibilities.

Manage the primary Nine Network web site,, as well as other
Nine Network websites as needed.
Create and design Web content for new programs, initiatives, events,
fundraising drives, etc.
Manage encoding, titling, describing and tagging of Nine Network online
video (programs, segments, interstitials, promos, Web-only, and
user-generated content) to ensure appropriate positioning for use on
various online video platforms.
Manage online communications and collaborate with other departments on
effective use of social media.
Manage online/interactive related accounts, such as email marketing,
online fundraising, video streaming and storage, third-party
applications, etc.
Utilize PBS Web resources.
Provide online fundraising results to membership/finance departments.
Maintain Web usage statistics.
Manage online community calendar.
Prepare Web site and online donation management software for
fundraising drives.
Design and send e-blasts to promote programs, station events,
activities and initiatives.
Read and assess importance of information on PBS Forums.

Educational requirements, certification or licensing standards,
experience and basic knowledge requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
At least three years professional work experience in online media,
including web development, social media, web design and content
Advanced knowledge and experience using XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Highly proficient in the following design software: Photoshop,
Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and have knowledge of
web-based platforms and browsers.
Knowledge and experience implementing and using online social
networking tools, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
Knowledge and experience researching, selecting, implementing and using
content management systems, blogging platforms, and other online
content creation and publication platforms.
Strong conceptual design and typography skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent writing ability.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
