I had the pleasure of taking a course on birdsong from Luis. Not only could
he whistle, but also recite poetry, reference classical and modern musical
composition, discuss geography and wax philosophic, all while lazing about in
a mountain meadow listening to and explaining the symphony of birdsong around
us.

One of the great ones has died. Any body else notice the obit for Dr. Luis
Baptista, man who whistled in all WC Sparrow dialects? Anybody know any details
of why he died at only 59?
