Fort Mason Local Interest - Western Kingbird, Bullock's Oriole, Hermit Warbler

David Assmann

Lots of avian activity at Fort Mason this morning, including a few migrants. Six species of warbler - HERMIT WARBLER, WILSON'S WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and TOWNSEND'S WARBLER.  No sign of the Baltimore Oriole (last seen Friday), but a male HOODED ORIOLE and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were seen in the garden. A WESTERN KINGBIRD perched briefly in the Eucalyptus trees north of the garden.  Two ELEGANT TERNS and a PIGEON GUILLEMOT were in the Bay. The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD in the garden may have found a mate - two Mockingbirds were chasing each other all morning, with both singing loudly and consistently.
