Battery Godfrey; 10/24

Brian Fitch

Another weak raptor showing, but ducks made up for it, and another hit of Evening Grosbeaks, males this time.  Birders included Dominik Mosur, Joachim Gonzalez, Jonah Benningfield, Peter Pyle, Josiah Clark, and Herb Brandt.  I stuck it out for 7.5 hours, and Joachim did even more.  Highlights only:

Cackling Goose - several small flocks
American Wigeon - a few scattered among mixed flocks
Mallard - likely non-feral
Cinnamon Teal - 1 female type
Northern Shoveler - few among flocks
Northern Pintail - 1 mono flock and a few others
Redhead - 1 definite and probably 4 others scattered in three mixed flocks
Greater Scaup - multiple flocks
Lesser Scaup - 2 with Greaters
Surf Scoter - many flocks throughout the day
White-winged Scoter - 2 females with Surfs
Red-breasted Merganser - 2 females
Northern Harrier - 2 juvs
Merlin - 1
Semipalmated Plover - 1
Dunlin - 1
Evening Grosbeak - 2 males at the Battery + likely 3rd male way out over the channel
