Ross versus Snow Goose at Crissy Field 1/3/2010
Hi,
Saw a Ross or Snow Goose (either would be a first for me!) at the Crissy Field lagoon late Sunday afternoon. It was hanging out with a large flock of gulls on the eastern sandbar by the bridge.

All,
I got to spent all of 1-hour at Battery Godfrey this morning. (8.15 to 9.15)
All the white geese/swans must have been south of me - I did have 100's of Cackling Geese, Canada Geese, Pintail,

I had a flock of unidentified geese flying just west of the GG Bridge
this morning while driving across so waterfowl are definitely on he

Geese over SF - fide Brian Fitch
Brian Fitch just called to tell me he's had four flocks of geese (snow, ross's and GWF) over lake Merced in the last several minutes.
Feeling kind of stupid since I just arrived in east Contra Costa

Biked throught the Presidio this morning, 67 species to start the year.
The Red-necked Grebe was just off shore of the Wildlife Protection Area. I could not find any plovers.

White-throated Sparrow in Glen Park
So a White-throated Sparrow was foraging around in the planter bed in my Glen Park garden at about 8:45am. It was a Tan-striped adult. What a nice New Year's Day prezzie!
Happy birding,

continue on South Lake.
