Re: Indigo Bunting again.

Hi Joseph ,

I saw it again today too. I was going to head out there earlier today but got derailed with meaningless (aka birdless) obligations.  Still got there while Blueboy was performing!

One of the photos I took is attached.

Best,

Evleen

Very excited at this little

I found the indigo bunting about 10:30 AM today. I looked in the pines first to no avail and decided to continue further south down the path towards the meadow and there he was singing away in a low tree at edge of meadow just left of path before it curves back into the wooded area.

He stayed for a good 10 mins and I finally had to leave for a meeting.  I only had my phone with me, so here's some grainy video, but you can clearly hear him sing.

Out of season are three Cackling Geese with the Spreckels Lake/Polo Field Canada flock.  First saw them on Spreckels and then saw and heard them fly over to the Polo Field.

Is this a Glaucous Gull?

Joel Perlstein

Seen today near the west end of the Concrete Bridge at Lake Merced. Looks like the Glaucous Gull I reported on eBird today (see photos of that bird on eBird), except this bird has an all dark bill.

Robbed while in car at GG Park by bison paddock

Amy G

Hi everyone,

I experienced a smash and grab while I was in my car tonight in Golden Gate Park tonight. After photographing the owls at the bison paddock, I got into my car when a white vehicle pulled up beside me, and someone jumped out to smash my rear window to get my camera. A photographer who left the scene earlier remembers the car being parked behind us, but didn't think anything of it at the time. It happened very quickly, and I am safe. I was there with another photographer, and I let my guard down momentarily. Be careful out there, and stay aware of your surroundings.

Take care,

Amy

Current tally out at the pines past the end of Brazil street is 0 buntings, 2 red tailed hawks. But I am a novice who can’t differentiate the song of song sparrow from indigo bunting, so perhaps it’s still here

Hi Birders,
The Indigo Bunting originally found by Ben and Teresa made a brief singing appearance on the low snag in the ravine NE of the Upper Reservoir about 10:50 this morning.

Green Heron at Stow Lake

Stephen McDonagh

Hello,
Hope this reaches the right party. I just joined. On Monday, May 17th, I saw a Green Heron at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park, SF. I was at the southwest part of the Lake when the heron caught my eye flying from the small island to the reeds at the shoreline. I was able to get close enough to get a good look and I am positive of the ID. While they are not uncommon, I have never seen one in SF. Hope it sticks around.

Apologies for multiple emails, insufficient caffeine this morning.

He’s also singing up a storm so that can help locate him.

He currently flew south towards the reservoir but he’ll likely be back. Earlier he had flown north towards the pines and then returned.

Pictures will come on ebird checklist.

Not surprisingly this Asiatic Swift was not sighted this morning by us.

I did find a Lazuli Bunting just below Inspiration Point by the Ecology Traii.
