Watch for marked Elegant Terns

Alvaro Jaramillo

International Bird Rescue has been working at Long Beach with this impromptu Elegant Tern colony that relocated there after leaving Bolsa Chica due to a predator/drone? These birds have been nesting on a barge, and the chicks have been falling out before they are ready to fledge. Suffice to say, there has been an effort to help them out. The juveniles which have been released are banded. Some also have red or pink marks that have been put on their head and or breast. Since this is a brand new effort, with uncertain outcomes, they are hoping birders let them know if any of these banded or marked juveniles are seen anywhere. Also if you want to donate to the effort:

good birding,
